Wont play DVD's

Hi,

I have a vaio PCG-FR285M and have been trying to play a DVD.
Each time I put a DVD in the drive it spins but none of my DVD playing software picks it up, not even XP shows the DVD as being in the drive. Any ideas?

This is becoming a too real problem these days with VAIOs, I guess the best thing to do is try and clean the lens.

If this doesn't work then let me know, I have a plan B

Ok so I have cleaned the lens a few times with a DVD lens cleaner. Played the cleaner CD fine, but its still hit and miss for the dvd to play.... I'm at a loss.

Go to device manager (Right click my computer > properties > hardware tab > device manager) and right click the drive.
Click uninstall and restart your VAIO

Ok... I have got a DVD to play, but others wont. Has anyone know why my vaio will play some DVD's and not others?

Hi.. Can you tell me your dvd model please, because I have the same problem with you... (you can find it by pressing right klick on dvdrom\properties\hardware...).
