WH-1000 XM3 not powering on

Not sure if this is cold weather issue related but my headset will not turn on straightaway. Pressing or holding the power button, nothing happens.

My first thought that the battery was draining so fully charged it and it turned on.

However I now I find I have to plug it in for 10 mins every time I want to use them just so i can turn the headset on

Battery level is always at 100% when I turn it on and I only tend to use them for 2 hours max. I also check the battery level before I turn it off  and it is usually 90%. Alas, next use it wouldn't turn on unless i charge it.

I've tried both resetting the headset and re-initializing to factory settings.

Headset has the latest firmware 4.1.1

Anyone else having this issue?

Hi @.brian ,

Having the same issue here. Headset charges, but power button absolutely refuses to do anything. I don't get power, am unable to reset the headset, and cannot even restore to factory.

This is really bumming me out

Hi Brian,

I don't think there's much more that you can do yourself at this point apart from sending the headphones to Sony for inspection. You can contact the Sony Centre using this number: 01656 867347

Update:

So I'm about convinced it is a cold operating temperature issue causing the headset not to power on.

I keep mine at my workplace office and during the night the heating is not on so in the morning it is a bit cooler. Whilst not too low below normal room temperature the headset cups are still cool to touch.

Obviously trying to power them on straight away doesn't work, but I do have a lamp on my desk which gives off a little bit of residual heat. After a minute or so under the lamp the headset is warmer to touch and it powers up straightaway. Note, I haven't plugged in the USB cable at any point.

i can confirm i have the same issue. even keeping them on the head for a while does the trick. but even at ~22* C roomtemp, no dice with the start. fw was 4.1.1 initially, 4.2.2 now. tried disabling touch, to no avail.
i can also add / refine the issue with the fact that only the left piece (with buttons and nfc) needs to be "warmed up" - it` sufficient to hold it on the ear or in the palm of the hand for about 1 min.
Sony reps, care to wheigh in ?

I really should have updated this thread, my apologies.

I sent mine back to Sony for repair. They didn't have the replacement part required for the fix and so sent me a brand new set free of charge as it was still under warranty
