depending on your phone, you can tether it. Newer androids allow this and you basically connect to the phones wifi hotspot.

i have an xperia x10 (i know, considered by some a vintage model already). All I have to do is go into the wireless settings menu on my phone and choose the option to set up a mobile hotspot. I've been in the mountains for some days and it has been realy useful for keeping my tablet online.
