email download limit reached?

Hi All.
I have recently moved from a z3 compact to a z5, and there is something happening that I have not seen before.
When I get an email with an attachment it doesn't download it but simply states at the top of the email "pre download limit reached" but I have set the pre download limit to "no limit" when I click on "download message" it just downloads forever but never actually downloads.

Is there another setting that I need to change?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Saswatch,

Have same problem with my Z5 compact.

when sending email (forward email) with attachment (picture) from my old phone (sony tipo dual), i can't retreive any picture from z5 compact email client. But when sending with another client (outlook on PC or Z5 compact itself) that works.

Sony tipo dual can retrieve, no problem at all when open the email.

It's seem problem with Android version?? Sony tipo dual using android 4.0.4, Z5 compact using android 5.1.1.

Like u said, solution maybe upgrade the Android version?

Thanks.

I was struggling with this issue too after starting to use the default email app on my XZ. After nearly resorting to a hammer I installed the Xperia update and then re-opened the settings page from the right hand side menu. In there I clicked on the settings icon (gear symbol) at the top of the screen relating to my email account. Under "sync settings" the very last item is pre-download limit and I changed this to no limit. The emails already received before making this change only appeared after I opened, closed and reopened them. All new emails instantly downloaded the full email content. Ideally SONY should set the standard setting to no limit so this doesn't happy to everyone! Hope this helps.

I finally found the solution for the initial issue, it is pretty well hidden:

  1. Open the email app
  2. On the top left click on the menu
  3. In the menu, go to settings
  4. On top click on Account settings
  5. The fifth row reads Pre download limit, click it and select No limit

I had exactly this problem with Outlook email ... solved by going to Settings > Accounts & sync > Exchange ActiveSync  > Account settings > Outlook account. Then select Settings via gear wheel next to email account name. Under 'Sync settings' go to 'Pre-download limit' and set it to 'No Limit'. Et voila, entire message start appearing in your email account. Slightly_smiling_Face
