Try performing a system repair as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
Can you try settings-apps-all,scroll down to settings and clear data?
Unfortunately I cannot even click on the 'settings' icon in the app drawer. When doing this, it just crashes immediately (I can see the settings for 0.5 sec and then back to the homescreen)..

I hope this helps.
I used Sony Bridge for Mac and the "Repair Xperia Device" to reset my phone. Now the settings appear normally again.
Thank you Thommo and Jake-SonyXperiaSupport for the detailed tips!
Hi everyone.
I just wanted to give you a short update to this topic:
A moment ago, my mobile started again to show this problem, the settings menu was just keeping to crash. This time I just deinstalled the Avast Antivirus app, and the problem disappeared. Therefor I suppose that the app was the root of all evil...
I will inform the app developers about this topic.
