I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.
@Anonymous thanks, this may actually help me as well. I need to tight up the menu a bit.
Are there actually any instructions on this TV anywhere?
Maybe Sony did not want to give us instructions so we could not try to use the advanced features on the TV's... lol
@adyjay33 - the manuals are as useless as teets on a bull to be honest. I complain each year thinking it cant get any worse. But Sony manage to surprise me each year...
The only closest thing is:

However, as a community, is it worth us all making our own hints, tips and FAQ?
@adyjay33 @frankie1g @Caledonian_TV A quick point on the price of the TV's... The price of the same set as mine has actually gone up!! I paid £979.99
They are dearer now... Sony Bravia 2015 4K TV

Done that the first day I had it! Unchecking everything there doesn't remove the irritating spinning icon, eventual cloud icon or (obviously) the place holder. - It also doesn't get rid of things like the 'play station now', 'play station video' or 'opera tv store' icons.... Which I don't want visible because I don't want the wife/kids/cat/granny/next-door's cat (in that order) poking around with! - The 'play station' nonsense for instance is among the things that provoke a lock-up!
It's also just bl00dy untidy looking! Gets up my nose when some ten-year-old 'designer' decides to try and ram the latest infantile offering from the playground down my throat... Bad enough on web sites; but in the interface of something I've paid good money for???
Really ALL I want on that 'home' screen are my inputs and settings... Preferably with a PIN on the latter!
There are no advanced features now as they have broken them all!
@Caledonian_TV if you dont want or require all the apps and internet features, why did you get this tv? Its becoming apparent obvious that this does not match your requirement. Did you do any research before purchasing.
My Home screen is pretty clear and functional. I only have one recommendation and it is Watch TV.
Caledonian_TV you are just moaning about everything now and its getting boring reading this in the forum no matter how maybe frustrated you are. I suggest you take the TV back and be done with it.
You are clearly not happy so do something about it.
If you want support or suggestions then stick around. I'm not defending the products or Sony but i too have some issues which is why I continue to subscribe here and get some of the valuable input from other people.
lets use the cummunity how its intended.
