I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.
If i am using a Freeview Channel (YouView) say channel 107 (BBC News HD), then i turn my PS4 on, it auto switches to the correct HDMI source. Which is how it should be.
Upon switching OFF the PS4, it auto switched back to Freeview - but not to channel 107, but to channel 811 - which is a null channel.
Can any one confirm this issue or similar?
Apparently that issue did get fixed - for a very short time in the EU, but then they broke it again - will find out for you. Next fw release for hdd etc will also have more bug fixes.
Has anyone else lost 'football' mode since the update? Getting a 'feature not available' on my BT youview box..
This is when using the 'football' button.
I've since found it activates fine from the 'action menu'
Hello, I have a x9405c 75 inch Sony TV ans I tried to watch HDR content on it, but the tc automatically goes in the STANDARD picture mode and it does not allow mo to change it manually, if I try it sais te feature is unavailable. The content seems very washed up when it is supposed to be very bright in HDR. The brightness level is set to 30.
Bought a Sony
KD-49X8305C
Too many problems with this TV very sad as I always though Sony to be the best.
1, Very slow youview guide
2, The other guide will only seach 1 channel at a time when it should move a full page at a time like youview
3, Unresponsive remote so slow especially selecting youview
4, Occasional reboot
5, Occasionally having to reboot as tv locks up
6, No information on screen to say freeview needs updating like all other modern TV's
7, When freeview updates it changes my custom channel positions back to standard (Panasonic leaves my settings)
8, Firmware updates don't seem to improve anything

I was out today, when arrived home the TV was on..... honestly this is ridiculous. Definetly the latest firmware has make more damage than fix to Sony Android TVs. From now on, I am unplugging the TV everytime I turn it off, I dont see any other choise!
I also saw the Bluetooth problem - immediately after enabling it my set still said that it was disabled.
I discovered this trying to re-register my Samsung Bluetooth 3D glasses. I had given up trying to watch 3D until this update because of the format notification problem and I assumed that the hard reset I had to do would have wiped any previous 3d glasses registration (although I'm not sure how persistent the 3D glasses registration is in general).
I was able to register the glasses after rebooting although the TV ended up in a state where it was displaying a 3D image and controlling the glasses but the picture menu claimed the images wasn't 3D and wouldn't let me use the 3D image adjustments (I wanted to increases the glasses brightness setting).
Same problem here, I had to restart the TV in order to be able turn on the Bluetooth. I am calling Sony on Monday, to report the list of issues. I wonder if Phillips Android TV have the same problems....
