49X8309C remote and voice commands

I have got a 49X8309C and cant get this to work, the remote has got a microphone symbol but it doesn't do anything when i press the button, i cant find anything in the settings other than the remote touch pad so i'm not to sure what else to do

also will this model TV receive the newer android update? its currently on 5.11

Hi thanks for the reply and moving my message, i tried your instructions but they are for a touchpad and i'm trying to connect a normal remote,

I have managed to get it to work by pairing it in the bluetooth settings i didn't realise it was connected through there
