So since doing a hard reset (3 days ago) seems the problem I had of having to unplug the TV for a bit to get it to turn on seems to have gone for now.
Interestingly I complained to Sony and they suggested turning the service replacement setting to off, why should this help this bug? Seems odd to me.

to unplug to get the TV to start. They told me the same as you and I reset
it x'ty times, plus removed all usb items and sideloaded apps, but the
problem always returned after a few weeks. I got the mainboard replaced
twice under warranty and then Sony got fed up and gave me an XG9505 as a
replacement.
All fine since then. I'm convinced the problem related to the processor
being underpowered for the job it needed to do. All fine with the higher
powered processor now.

Woah, after a few weeks!? I'm not safe yet then, I thought after a few days I was doing ok! Will report back if it happens again, also after the last load of broken TVs Sony sent me I won't be dealing with them any more, I'll use my richer sounds warranty.

I so wish I hadn't updated to oreo on my xd9005 it is nothing but a buggy mess the processor cannot cope, and as for richer sounds helping, you've got no chance, the said as it was a software issue that I would need to get in touch with sony, my tv at the moment is not fit for purpose Netflix is constantly crashing and when it's not its freezing and skipping as is the whole of the android system, I'm fuming !!!!!!
