Android 8.0 Oreo/ 9.0 Pie

Is it OK to expect Android Oreo on 2017 Sony Android TVs?

You can think whatever you want. I was just curious about the climate in the italian forum against the UK one (just not to limit it to my own impression)

Loud, clear and humorous.

Please, clarify: Does it affect subtitles color? Does white become grey?

Thanks.

So, just to clarify, this UI brightness issue emerges only under HDR conditions, right? On SDR there is no problem.

And does this affect the subtitles too? Do subtitles display through the mediatek video pipeline or through the x1 video pipeline process (eg. in netflix app)?

And BTW probably I am limited but I do not understand this specific problem... When I watch an HDR video I do not have the possibility to access the menu, and if I do it switch over to SDR. Inside an app, it is up to the app to manage their own rendering in HDR/SDR. But probably i didnt understand correctly

Dark grey volume control not using subtitles. This true.

You have really lost me here...

I do not understand in which real use case you access a dimmer android ui while playing an HDR video. Sorry but it is a limit of mine.
What I understood but cannot verify on my set the android menu is dimmer but this is sdr of course. At least I thought I have understood this.

Ok, lets see. In HDR when I open Android UI, this menu too dark. In previous firmware I dont have any questions about it. In SDR menu too little darker. Again and peak brightness tv downgraded! Only the blind will not see it.

Please be quiet. I did not claim you are blind so do the same since you have a different TV.
When you talk about android ui you mean the home menu? Because I think this is what I didn't understand since the android menu is only sdr.

@rooobb Thanks for the clarifications. My intention is not to argue with anyone or defy their experience or even expertise. My goal is to learn form their experience (on v6.6510 in specific) in order to decide if I should proceed with the update or not, taking also into account that downgrade is not an option.
