I have the Sony XD8088 49 inch model.
In the main the picture is fine but when watching anything where the screen is mainly one bright colour, there are noticeable dark 'smears' on the screen, mainly in the upper left and right of the screen. Its most noticeable when watching sports events where the main colour is the green of the pitch, and its worse when the picture is moving, not static.
I thought they may reduce after a period of usage but they dont seem to be.
Do I have a faulty screen or is this a common fault with these tv's?
Hi there
Are you referring to something like DSE (Dirty Screen Effect), see:

Or there is 'Clouding'

However you mention that its worse when the picture is moving - have you looked at the MotionFlow settings?

Is the first thing one you mentioned, dirty screen effect. Having read the link you posted it looks like there's nothing that can be done about it?
