Downgrading TV

My wife's kd 55xd80005 2016 was recently upgraded to oreo 8.she finds its buggy and wants to go back to 7

My kd55850c is still running 7 and is rock solid  Is it possible to put the previous version on a USB stick and go back?

What kind of recovery software you are talking about?
But in any case I have oreo installed and my TV is working  well...which problems are so bad for your wife ?

She suffers frequent picture and sound dropouts when streaming via Plex,
and the TV will not stay connected to the Internet displaying the no
Internet connection message.

We are both connected to the same network with identical dlink switches,
and my TV running 7 has no such problems. We also have a media server with
movies etc and her TV will quit playing after a few minutes and require
starting the movie over again. Once again, my TV has no such problem. Tried
the usual reboot of both TV and router without success. The software I
mentioned is available on Sonys website and is designed to restore a
bricked TV to factory defaults. I don't believe it will downgrade the
software, but could be wrong

Regards

Jeff

Regarding losing internet connection let's her try a different wifi channel on the router setting it to 1 6 or 11 and set the DNS to a public one (like 8.8.8 8).
For plex I do not have a clue since I do not use it preferring serviio as media server or better nova player on the TV via SMB sharing.
Do not think you may use that utility to install a different fw.

Tried the router settings on WiFi and cabled. Both televisions are normally
cabled anyway but she still gets the drops. I've uninstalled Plex then
restarted the TV and reinstalled it without success. Vlc which is another
media player/ sharer, also behaves the same way. It's got to be related to
the recent upgrade which she did via USB stick. We're both tech saavy
having spent years in the industry, but this one has me beaten. Now
thinking a factory reset may be our only option.

Yes, a factory reset could be a solution even if boring...

Some more details about things we have tried.

Network dropouts;
Both ethernet and wifi suffer the same problem. I have tried setting static
ip, and changing dns. It has happened whilst using other apps, some buffer
more and survive the outage. This has only started with 8.0.

Plex client isn't the problem, its console logs show a loss of stream. The
dropping out affects VLC and youtube also.

☹️😢 looks like a network bug in 8.0 at least specific to the KD-X80**
series.

Think I will raise bug ticket with Sony, and see what happens.

I know I can always Zap it if no fix arrives in a sensible time frame.
