Rebooting issue with Bravia KD-55XE9005 TV

After many months with no problems, my TV recently started rebooting repeatedly and then sometimes it would behave normally. Today, it just continued to reboot after about 1 minute and so I tried a factory reset. However, I cannot do a factory reset using menus and the remote control. So I tried a manual reset following the Sony instructions: hold down the on/off button and Vol- button then plug in the AC power and hold the two buttons down until the green LED light comes on and the reset circle appears onscreen. After the Welcome screen appears, the TV gives a message to say it is starting its factory data reset. After rebooting, the Welcome screen then reappears. I complete the language, tablet and WiFi connection questions without a problem, but then my TV decides to reboot repeatedly back to the Welcome screen. I have tried this process many times without success. Does anyone have any suggestions? Full factory reset (manually)? Firmware update (how?)? I can take it back to the store but they will probably charge half the cost of the TV to fix it, and because it was an intermittent fault to start with, I am wondering if it’s a hardware problem. Any thoughts?

Hey Washand, since your TV is now stuck in a reboot loop, there's nothing else to try. Contact Sony to check the warranty status and go from there I would say.

I managed to fix the problem by connecting an ethernet cable to the router and TV, thus removing the need for connecting WiFi, then doing a manual reset. I was then able to download and install the firmware update and then the problem was solved.
