I have a sony giga juke. It will not turn on using the remote - it is showing a blue flashing light as if it is in standby but the controls on the unit or the remote will not work. This happended before and I had to turn it off at the mains. Has anyone had this problem.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Group set up on Facebook "Gigajuke Issue", Open to all. This is not a means to get at Sony, more a means to publicise the issue to Gigajuke Owners who may be unaware of the issue and direct them here.
The Sony team are welcome on there too to add weight but Id rather they add a solution :smileywink:!
Steve,
Thanks for setting up the Facebook group - I've sent a join request (Alister Brown), and shared the link already.
Cheers,
hedgehog
All,
Don't know if it'll help, but I've dropped a line to the news desk of The Register in the hope that they'll pick this up under the Music & Media category:
Cheers,
hedgehog
Am fully behind any way to get more attention on this subject so will joing the Facebook group later.
I have already sent messages through to Watchdog, but also sent an Email to Haymarket Publishing, who own What HiFi and Stuff magazines, to see if they will pick-up on the story.
I have also asked the Sony Support group for their procedure to make an official product complaint. I am tempted to get cracking on The Sony Japan website to see what feedback I can put into the system there.
Just to join in.
I also got a reply this morning, citing the Gracenote software. I did ask him to go ahead and post the general update on this forum, but he declined saying an 'official sony statement' would be released when they have a 100% fix.
I got no response whatsoever to my Email last week, and eventually posted another rant on the web on friday night, signing off with "I'm off to the Watchdog website!" and lo and behold I get a response today....
Will post any official reply when I get one.
Dear Sir
Thank you for your recent e-mail.
My apologise for taking so long to reply.
I have spoken with our technical team and at the minute this problem is being investigated, this seems to be an issue with an update to the grace note software built in to your product.
At the moment I have noted your details down and as soon as a fix is released I will contact you and inform you on how to resolve this issue.
Should you have occurred any costs by taking this product to an Approved service centre please provide me with the paid invoice and I will arrange a refund for you.
Also I have taken the information you have provided regarding the approved service centre search and passed it to the team for maintaining our website to update.
Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely

Deleted the agents name, nothing something we publish on the forums.

Well that just typical isn't it!!
So Sony still aren't prepared to officially admit there is problem, until they have actually fixed it, well do me a favour!
In other words, if we don't ever fix the problem then we have covered ourselves because we never admitted there was a problem in the first place.
With regards "Will post any official reply when I get one."
I wouldn't hold your breathe, given how long it took them to fix the Playstation Network earlier this year (an issue making worldwide national headlines) I can't imagine this gracenote problem (an issue effecting a handful of customers and yet to even be officially admitted) is going to be fixed anytime soon!
As usual a load from Sony!!!

Deleted Call Centre staff name, as its not something we publish on the forums or really fair on them.
Still Nothing from Sony I see.
I received my Gigajuke home last night. I have not put it back on the network but have disabled NTP. I have also set to standard startup now too.
It probably wont lock up now and I presume the majority of Gigajuke owners do not connect to a network else we would have a lot more complaints by now.
Hmmm....last post from Sony on here was on the 10th November, since when it's all gone very quiet. I take it no one else has heard back from support? The silence still speaks volumes.
hedgehog
Unfortunately Hedgehog I said the same thing way back on page 3!
I get the impression that unless somebody like 'Watchdog' or 'What Hi-fi ' takes this up we're pretty much left to stew.
We all know it doesn't work, we all know it happened at the same time and we all know the 'support' is almost non-existant. But where do we go from here?.....

Well it looks like Sony's support is universally poor, and even defeats the typical German efficiency. There is a posting there of similar problems back in early October, with a quick reply (in English) to say that engineers are getting right on it and will communicate the solution in the near future....and then it's all gone very quiet!
I do wonder whether Watchdog maybe slightly nervous about going back after Sony, after the overblown reports they broadcast about the PS3 'yellow light of death' issues, but hopefully Ann Robinson would like to have a go again!
Specialist_convergence / StartTheCar, can you at least let us know an unofficial update on what the hell is going on?
