Since the beginning of OCTOBER 2011 a thread has been poted on this site with the heading
GIGAJUKE (Martin Smith) and consists of some 23 pages of peoples concerns and frustrations that the owners had with SONY support in resolving the fact that the product was not working correctly.
At the end of November 2011 Sony appeared to have solved the issue of the GIGAJUKE just hanging and needed to be reset to turn on.
However a number of those thread users raised concerns that their GIGAJUKEs whist connected or made a network connection it appeared that the unit reported that there was no internet connection.
So this Thread is for that problem alone
Do You have this problem
Do You have a NAS - S55HDE
If so please raise this fact on this thread,
If you have a similar machine but the same problem start a new thread with the same title but with your type of GIGAJUKE in the Title
GIGAJUKE ??? - ????? NO WIRELESS OR WIRED CONNECTION TO INTERNET
The more threads for each indivual GIGAJUKE product with the same issue will make Sony aware of the bigger picture and the failings of the system that they created and should be managing and solving

I have this issue with my S55 plus the unit frequently appears to not be available to the Cs5 unit. A reset restores the connect for a while.
I feel there is a serious issue with the networking capabilities of this unit.

I have this problem and notified Sony yesterday.
I have now decided that my Nas S55 system is not able to connect to the internet wirelesssly correctly as per how it was marketed and sold to me - at present I have got it working via AOSS so that at least it can talk to my satalite unit.
BAD SHOW SONY !!!!!!!!
Not even the Specialist or Car have even looked at this issue and therefore how can the main Sony support even start thinking about resolving the failures
Dissapointed Sony Affectionado
My gigajuke was working fine on a standard broadband conection then I switched Providers back in September 11. I am now using BT Fastnet, but since then I have been unable to get the gigajuke to reconginise the router.
Any ideas?
Mine too.
The router can see the unit
The unit says wired LAN connected but no internet.
Has worked in the past - not now.
Mine is exactly the same. The LAN is working fine, but the unit reports no connection to the Internet. It worked fine until about a month ago
I have a sony giga duke and it does not connect to the internet, internet radio or go into party mode in fact it is, without too much understatment, crap. I will never buy a sony audio product again. I suggest we dont use this tread to try to resolve the problems as it is clearly the poorest piece of electronics to have been invented since lucas electrics for british bikes. Like Lucas electrics SONY deserves to go bust.
Very Constructive !!!
How else do you hope to solve the issues if we do not create a complaint or issue and then start establishing the true extent of the problem.
Perhaps Researching All The facts regarding history of gigajuke you will find that your equipment will work if you follow the correct strands.
Hi everyone,
I last posted when the Gigajuke refused to work late last year but since the fix my unit and client unit have worked fine. Like people have posted though, my set also shows the message that it is CONNECTED TO HOME NETWORK , NOT CONNECTED TO INTERNET but it must be I`m receiving internet radio, the time set itself through the internet and the unit obtains more track/album info when "search online" is selected, if it wasn`t connected to internet, surely the unit would state then that it is not connected.
This has nothing to do with the fix last year as my set has always shown this message, and tried my patience when I first set the unit up, as I kept trying and trying.
Could be that Sony had plans for more software updates and support for the Gigajuke when first released but didn`t sell as many sets as predicted (probably due to price), therefor giving up on the idea.
I think the Gigajuke main unit using WEP internet secruity, but the client being able to use WEP/WPA is a bit poor, I recently acquired a Virgin superhub and thats only supports WPA. Luckily though the superhub can have two guest networks, so setting up another guest WEP network was the only option. This could be the problem people are having when switching to BT superhub or other modem/routers.
I still think the Gigajuke is a good bit of kit, not seeing the screen from the sofa was annoying but the option of connecting the Gigajuke to the TV sorted that out.
Hopefully someone may be able to explain the NOT CONNECTED issue soon ???
