Hi,
After upgrading to 1.847, DTS is no longer decoded properly on the soundbar. The sound is distorted.
On the other hand the firmware update brought stability to disconnection from the TV.
My setup is with a Philips 49PUS6412 TV using a certified High Speed cable.
Using Plex App on TV, with TV speakers, the DTS is properly decoded.
Once I switch to soundbar it distorts the sound.
I have tried all possible settings both on TV and soundbar, nothing seems to work.
What I have tried on TV side:
- switching to no UHD on HDMI port (suggested by TV manual)
- sending decompressed signal (both TV and Plex app)
What I have tried on soundbar side:
- disabling sound mode
- disabling eARC (this also led to previos issues that I had prior to update)
After any of these settings I did a complete unplug of both TV and soundbar, to make sure that there is no cache (read it in one of the manuals tv or soundbar).
Does anyone have any other idea of what I might try?
LE: in order to rule out the Plex app, I played the same movie from USB and the problem remains.
LE: In the TV manual, I found this
If you watch a video from a plugged in USB flash drive or connected computer, the sound from your Home Theatre System might be distorted. This noise is heard when the audio or video file has DTS sound but the Home Theatre System has no DTS sound processing. You can fix this by setting the Digital Out Format of the TV to Stereo
This is exactly what happens. Meaning that my HTS, in my case the Sony soundbar, does not do DTS processing. So what happened to the firmware? It obviously should support DTS
