I've been told the speakers on a BDV-N590 can be configured to operate as a 3.1 system and the rear speakers disconnected.
I haven't found anything about this in the operator manual and wondered if others could confirm whether the information I've been given is correct?
A related query (since my last purchase of audio equipment was sooooo long ago) is, if the rear speakers (or any speakers for that matter) become disconnected inadvertently for any reason, will that damage the unit? (Many years ago that would have "blown" the output stage of an amplifier...)
Thanks in anticipation....
no problem, just make sure that the "sound mode" is stereo all the time. Otherwise you will miss audio info from MultiChannel audio program
Thanks re the config - and just to be ulta clear, unit operates safely if any of the rear speakers become disconnected?
yes, in stereo mode, only front left+right & subwoofer channels are on.
