DVP-SR760H DVD Player - Chapter Viewer Problem

Hi, there is a chapter viewer that keeps appearing at the top of the screen. It appears on blue welcome screen just after I insert a DVD.  I press clear on the remote and sometimes it disappears for the rest of the movie or keeps reappearing. It's very frustrating and there seems no rhyme or reason to its appearance.

I have done what sony have told me to do - disconnect the plug for 1 minute and then do a reset, but it doesn't solve the problem. I'd be grateful if anybody has any ideas. Thanks

Thanks, the chapter viewer didn't appear on saturday, but today (sunday) it's started popping up on screen again. Also, there was a flickering on screen that was solved by turning the unit off and disconnecting from the mains. I'm a bit disappointed by this. I've never had a problem with a sony product before and they've lasted forever. If any body has a solution, i would be pleased to get some help.
