HT-ZF9 sound drops out

Our HT-ZF9 with rear surround speakers puts out some terrific sound. But, almost two years on, annoying random audio drop-outs continue. The unit, along with all of our other gear, is connected to our Sony KD65XF9005 with high-quality HDMI 2.0 cables. This issue was documented by consumers shortly after the HT-ZF9 was introduced two years ago. We keep the system software up-to-date. Hard resets by cutting power to the unit work as a fix less and less.

I'm stunned that Sony has not come up with a resolution yet.

Is anyone else still experiencing this problem. Has anyone solved the problem?

Hey Jharps, try updating to the latest software version, it will resolve the issue.

Hi Hannah, I’m already on v6.0466

also thinking that the sound bar ht-zf9 is also at fault due to people without the tv suffering same issue

If it works when you disable ARC, it's one issue that several users reported and it seems to be a software related one. Sony say they're working on it for now but I think anyone who has the same issue with the software up to date should notify Sony support

It is after disabling eARC Then power off at switch for 5 minutes on Both devices a major reduction in dropout is achieved.

cheers

suggestion...

On the TV

Turn of all WiFi capabilities and used wired  Ethernet

Setup sound bar and tv as wanted / expected

Reboot

Solved.

First night... no drop outs so far!!!!!

Hello.
has anyone found a solution to the sound drop yet?
I contacted Sony and actually got all the Bluetooth modules changed.
But the sound still drops.
I have an arc cable to the tv.

Short of hard wiring the wireless subwoofer, nothing worked for me.

These are basically faulty, and Sony have washed their hands of the problem.

I spent hundreds of hours trying to fix mine, changing settings, moving
routers, reconfigure wifi. Nothing helped at all. All the Sony advice are
basically time wasters so the units gets outside of its warranty and Sony
can walk away from the problem.

Have you tried getting it inspected by Sony engineers?

completely agree with everything you say.

mine did the same and was only solved by hardwiring the sub.

i have did extensive wifi monitoring and there was nothing anywhere near the channel the soundbar was using to communicate with the sub.

sony reps either aren't interested or don't actually understand the product and issue.

they say to send it away to an authorised repairer, which is pointless IMO as the issue is so intermittant they could test it for any length of time and the issue might not occur.

any excuse to delay so that the warranty runs out.
why they chose WIFI as the communication method between speakers is beyond me. almost everyone else uses bluetooth.
