HT-ZF9 sound drops out

Our HT-ZF9 with rear surround speakers puts out some terrific sound. But, almost two years on, annoying random audio drop-outs continue. The unit, along with all of our other gear, is connected to our Sony KD65XF9005 with high-quality HDMI 2.0 cables. This issue was documented by consumers shortly after the HT-ZF9 was introduced two years ago. We keep the system software up-to-date. Hard resets by cutting power to the unit work as a fix less and less.

I'm stunned that Sony has not come up with a resolution yet.

Is anyone else still experiencing this problem. Has anyone solved the problem?

I also had the same problem with the subwoofer sound dropping out.

I didn't read all the posts so don't know if this has been suggested already.

The solution for me was to change the speaker settings.

Select [Setup] - [Advanced Settings] on the home menu

Select [Speaker Settings] - [Wireless Speaker Settings] - [RF Channel]

Select the setting you want.

It is defaulted to [On].

If sound dropping occurs while [On] is selected, it may be improved by selecting [Off].

This is on page 34 of the operating instructions.

It fully resolved my issue.

that's the stock "fix" you'll get from your sony rep.

in reality it generally makes zero difference.

I didn't speak to Sony about this.  Simply looked under troubleshooting in the operating instructions.

Changed the setting and problem solved.

Some users may not have tried this and it may work for some and not others.

I am writing here as I have firstly tried all the “manual” settings.
I then contacted Sony and it took six months for approval to get the internal Bluetooth boards changed.
even after this was done, it still drops.

mid I am reading correctly; Sony wash their hands of it but nobody is harassing them to a point that they have to address it.
I am going to comment negatively on every promotion they have. Until they fix this.
I spent far too much on it.
if a person bought a car and it kept cutting out; there would be uproar!

Apologies, but I don't think I ever came back to you on your question.  Photos of the sub and soundbar panels (with cable) attached.  As I said previously, this stopped all the sound cut outs completely.  For the sakes of a few quid for the cable, it was worth it for me. Fully understand that for those who don't want to, or can't go this route that it is unacceptable.

Hi Rendle83,

I suggest to get it inspected by Sony engineers, maybe it is hardware related issue and they can fix it.

Best regards,

BatRick.
