My recorder (SVR-HDT500) won't switch on but the blue light keeps flashing.

Can anyone suggest a fix. I have checked all cables and power is getting through but the box just won't complete switch on(solid blue light)  but shows last tv channel with current program running.I have pressed reset button but no effect.

Hi. Yes it did work but problem has returned. I'm guessing it is probably on its way out.

Things to try:

1. Turn the power off at the wall for 30 seconds.

2. Press and hold down the reset button inside the front flap for 10 seconds.

3. Turn off all automatic updates.

4. Try a repair of the hard disc - System Menu -> Other -> Disc -> Disc Repair. This will not wipe your existing recordings. DO NOT choose Disc Format or you will lose all recordings on the disc.
