No LoveFilm or iPlayer on my Blu-Ray BDP-S390

Hello

I have a Sony BDP-S390 Blu Ray.

I am based in Ireland.

I can get Netflix. The icon is there under the Videos crossbar. Works perfectly.

There is neither a LoveFilm nor an iPlayer icon.

I have the latest update of firmware.

I bought the blu-ray in July.

It has the LoveFilm and iPlayer logos on the packaging and the sticker on the unit.

I'd appreciation guidance on getting LoveFilm and iPlayer.

Regards

Hi

Its the same box for Uk and Ireland, thus the stickering I think and unfortjnately neither of these two services operate in the Republic. Lovefilm may come at some point, but very unlikely BBC will launch iPlayer there I'm afraid.

In the Republic you do however have TV3 and Netflix in addition to all the other stock services, both of which are very good.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Catmambo.

I can understand iPlayer  is a BBC issue although I heard recently that BBC Global iPlayer is solving the issue.

On LoveFilm, I understand that to be false advertising to label the packaging with LoveFilm.

I would not have bought the Sony if it had not advertised LoveFilm.

I see other queries have been answered that it is available.

Can you tell me how do I pursue this issue with Sony?

Hi Eammon

As far as I know, it makes clear in the documentation that services may vary by territory. If you are unhappy with it though, you would need to discuss with your retailer from whom you purchased the device.

Hope this helps

The BluRay player is a very good product.

But this 'fine print' answer really galls me.

And it galls me that a vendor does not make 'Regional Differences' as prominent as the LoveFilm logos.

I really did not think that Sony was a 'Buyer Beware' vendor.

So if I go to the retailer and do not get a satisfactory answer I will go directly to a radio show.

Or the right person in Sony can pm me about the issue?

That way we don't have to escalate to resolve.

I'd appreciate if you can arrange for that person to pm me?

The small print on the Logo sticker says 'YouTube may not be available in some countries'.

There is no mention of a LoveFilm restriction.

And it is nearly readable it us so small.

Re: documentation: is one allowed to open and read the documentation before buying the product?

I'd appreciate customer service on the questions in my previous post.

Hi Eammon,

If you are unhappy with the product or feel like you have been mis-sold, then you should raise this with the retailer directly. Beyond that, I'm not sure if we can assist any further I'm afraid.

Thanks
