LOL, I know that feeling.
I don't think it would change things tbh because at the end of the day the Sony was not resetting as it should. Once reset it loses all channels and so wouldn't be able to 'Update' until it had been set up again. Something a bit more fundamental going on with that one I think.
You could always put it in a cupboard and leave it a few weeks/months. Stranger things have definitely happened.
