hello,
my 3 month old sony vaio laptop has developed a dark dotted line across the screen.(altho it is white when the background screen is dark). it is there as soon as i start up the laptop. it looks like a border and a friend in i.t. assures me its not pixallated but he doesnt know how its got there or how to get rid of it.... this is my last port of call for help before returning to the store. i hope someone can help it would be greatfully appreciated but im not technical at all. ive only heard of things like bios i have zero idea what it is!!

Hi. Try to check if it is a hardware issue. If it is indeed a screen issue.
Once you turn it on, when the screen is still black and white ( before windows loads). Are those dark lines visible? If it is, it is clearly a hardware issue and the screen needs to be either fixed or replaced.
