DVD Drive stopped working. What to replace it with?

The DVD drive in my desktop has stopped working. The model of the drive is the Sony DVD18A. I do not use it for much - mainly for watching DVDs (the desktop is used instead of a DVD player).

The DVD18A model no longer appears to exist. What DVD Drive can I buy to replace it with - preferably something for sale on Amazon.co.uk or similar.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

What model Vaio do you have - some are a bit difficult to replace the drives.

If you have a conventional desktop tower any 5.25 inch internal IDE drive should fit. If you have an 'All In One' then it will probably have a notebook drive.

Go to Amazon and search for DVD IDE internal drive and you should get a very good choice from £15.

What model Vaio do you have - some are a bit difficult to replace the drives.

I think it is quite tricky to get the drive out. Hopefully someone here will be able to help.
