Memory upgrade problem

Hello everybody
I am trying to upgrade my Sony VAIO PCG-K315S to 1GB RAM.
I checked on Sony support pages and I read that 512MB DDR 333 SOmodules are supported.
Therefor I bought 2 x 512MB memory modules with those specs from Corsair (part# VS512DS333).
They are now correctl installed but my Vaio insists in recognising them as 256MB modules.

Is there maybe something I need to change at the BIOS level to have them properly recognised?

Thanks for any help
S.

I don't believe that there is. It should work fine. The only thing that i can really suggest is that you reseat the RAM sticks again and make sure they have a good contact and try again.

Hello Matt thanks for replying.
I did that already, a few times. The sticks seat properly anyway, with no difficulty....

go to www.crucial.com
put your laptop name etc and check the compatible memory modules.
i upgraded my laptop memory with crucial ram modules
100% reliable and 100% compatible
also, i paid 48 euros while i had to pay 250 to buy a 1024mb module from sony's webpage...

Go to Crucial here and download their system scanner software and memory module software to assess the new RAM and see what it reports. I purchased my two modules of 512 RAM in my K215z and installed without a hitch.

I have in the back of my mind that we have seen this problem before with Corsair memory modules.

I don't think a solution was found - except to change the make of memory module.
