Mousepad stops working when I connect external hard-drive or projector to laptop.

Hi All,

Looking for help here.  Everytime I bring the (very new) vaio laptop into the Sony centre, the mosepad works fine.  It stops working completely when I connect in my projector (which never happened with my old laptop), and begins stuttering and stammering when I connect my external hardrive. 

Has anyone else had this problem?  Any idea why it keeps happening?
