Sony FX701 not charging!

Earlier on it came up with the not charging icon as if it was running from the battery!

I took out the power lead and it had a bit of smoke that stunk! Now whenever I plug it in it will not charge at all! the light is still on the Power Supply box but it wont charge at all!

Is this the Power Supply or the Laptop?

Anything I can do to tgest?

You can test the power adaptor with a DC volt/amp meter.
I hope for your sake that it is the power adaptor and not the notebook!

Is it worth buying a new AC adapter on the off chance?
The smell was coming off that and the box was boiling hot!

It does sound like the power supply has blown. You can get a test meter for four quid from Maplin
