Hi
I am based in the UK. I am thinking of ordering a refurb laptop from the US Sony Outlet store and have my friend bring it over to the UK, when he comes for work.
I realise that Sony Vaio refurb laptops come with a 90 day warranty.
I know new laptops come with a 1 year International Repair Service, so I was wondering about Sony Vaio refurb laptops.
I was wondering whether it would be eligible for the International Repair Service? If so, how long for?
Would really appreciate some help here please as there is no email contact for the sales guys in charge
thanks

Hi gambitlebeau.
If you go to the US Website you can see the full Ts&Cs of the Vaio International Repair Service (VIRS) and even download the manual: -

You can have a longer and closer look but on a quick inspection a refurbished Vaio purchased in the US will not be covered by VIRS. You must be the first owner and have purchased the Vaio in your country of permanent residence. The Vaio would need to be registered in the US and within the original warranty and you would need to be a temporary visitor to Europe.
Some of this may be open to interpretation. Best case is that it will apply for the 90 days of factory warranty but the most likely case is that it will not qualify at all.
From what I know with the other leading brands, international warranty is not possible but I would suggest to call the sales team and have this one checked.
You have two possible options here, Sony itself, if they offer it or the reseller(US Sony Outlet store). It needs to come from them.
