Vaio VGN-FZ11Z: Blue screen caused by Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller

Getting regular shut downs unexpectedly. System advised that recent problem (blue screen)caused by Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller. Files that help describe the problem: mini082007-.1.dmp; sysdata.xml and version.txt
Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11Z,Windows Vista Home Premium, purchased 20/07/07
Somewhat disappointed with replacement for my Vaio VGN-FS285M as new laptop appears slower with VISTA despite faster processor and more memory etc.
All help much appreciated.

Hi CWG and welcome to Club Vaio.

Yes, Vista has its advantages and disadvantages - speed is not one of the advantages!

All I can suggest for the Ethernet Controller is to reinstall the driver. If you go to Control Panel -> Device Manager and expand 'Network Adapters' - right-click on your ethernet adapter and choose 'Uninstall'. Then re-boot the Vaio to reinstall the driver.

This should happen automatically but if the New Hardware Wizard pops up, Choose 'No, not this time' -> 'Install from List or Specific Location' -> 'Don't Search, I will choose a driver to install' -> 'Have Disc' and browse to C:\Drivers.
