vgn-s1, reformat erases only C: drive or also theD: drive?

Hi need to reinstall windows cuz I messed something up, If I use the CD's to reinstall the OS, does it format only the C: drive or alo the 😧 Drive? I need to know since there are alot of files on 😧 that I stil need.
My old Vaio deleted both partitions when I reinstalled the OS, thats why I ask.

The system recovery should only format the C drive. How old was your other Vaio?
No harm in backing up data to an external drive, if you have one, just to be on the safe side.

Just restore C:, and as Rich says make a backup!

Btw Foxhound, what did you mess up? Maybe there is an easier solution.
