Hi,
I have a VAIO FS415S with NVIDIA Geforce Go 6400 PCI Express 128 MB Turbocache.
I would like to know if is possible to change the video card for a better one. And more if possible, what can be upgraded/changed and what cannot.
Thank you.
Hi ababa and welcome to Club Vaio.
The graphics cards in all Sony laptops are soldered to the main board and are not economically upgradeable.
A handful of very large laptops on the market do have interchangeable cards but these are very rare and expensive!
You are really limited to additional RAM and perhaps a hard drive upgrade.
Thank you very much for your help. At least is it possible to get a new driver for it ? I tried different versions of forceware but only few of them are suitable to this type of graphhic card (actually I found only two). I searched on NVIDIA site but nothing. Even the original drivers were not available on the above mentioned site. I downloaded them from VAIO SUPPORT, etc.
Thank you again for your help.
You're very welcome ababa.
hi
i use http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ to get new nvidia drivers.
they mod the ini file that the installer recognizes the card right.
because in real, all nvidia drivers are a pack of drivers for all nvidia cards
Thank you !!
I will try the latest one.
