It wasn’t clear before. Maybe that you want to use auto-iso and set them the minimum shutter speed continuing to use A mode

You can do all that you want. What you mean with “A”? If you mean “aperture” (as usually is) you can add the control if shutter speed switching to “M” (manual) where you can set both aperture and shutter speed. If you mean “auto” than you can switch to S (shutter speed) to control directly the shutter and maintain aperture in auto.

Hi @Meestar, welcome to Sony’s users community. Probably mr. Sony will not hear you, most likely it doesn’t exist as a person I find your suggestion a little bit strange. I had seen the mark on the front face of bayonet in almost all the mirrorless cameras. I’d seen external mark just in low level cameras to help base level users. I find natural to look at the mark position on the lens before to unlock it, and then it’s easy to replace the new one in the same position. probably it should be a little hard to fit an external mark on the small body of Sony’s cameras

I had understood, but actually you have to chose before to buy. Sony's camera body are the smallest of the market for almost every category. Legacy A7 was really small, and professionals doesn't like, so in the year Sony has dedicated A7# to professional with biggher body, and smallest (A7C and aps-c) for consumer. At the moment Sony's cameras are still the smallest. You can't fit A7v hardware and mechanical skills that made it "professional" in a A7C body. As personal opinion (I had both A7iv and A7c at the same time) when you mount a lens on the body the advatage of smallest size of A7c are lost. Whit similar lens mounted also canon's camera (probably the biggest) have the same size. So we have to select the camera looking at the features, not the millimeters

If you want a A7CII/A7CR with double card slot and bigger grip, you want a A7iv/A7Rv

It’s deprecated to use silent shutter with artificial light and moving subjects. The only cameras that can work in those situations are the one with global shutter or full stacked sensors (only A9 and A1 series at the moment).

The best way to see the full list of metadata inside sony’s raw is to use imaging edge for desktop. Spoiler: strips inside your pic in artificial light are for sure due to the silent shutter use

With artificial light is a common effect of flichering of the main light. The anti-flicker function help a lot to obtain uniform ecposition and white balance ( https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2230/v1/en/contents/TP0003057052.html ), and can happen that the expected exposure (measured before to shoot) is not the same of final shot. The solution is to slow down the shutter speed. In your case you was at 1/125 that is really slow for the lens (150mm), so you can only accept the fact, stay safe with a little bit lower exposition, and recover in postproduction (with raw files, of course).

Never had this issue with my A7iv. I usually mount a 35mm f1.2. In the other hand, a found some shutter lock: - press shutter - the evf goes black as usual - it stays black for some seconds until it returns to work but never focus freezes

The old classic method is to point to a detailed wall with the camera on a tripod. Be sure of the focus. Shoot with a timer or a remote commander. Try at different apertures, lengths and distances. If the wall is exactly parallel to the sensor plane all the frame should be in focus. In some lenses could be present a little focus plane distortion due to the lens effect, in that case you can move the focus point all around the frame to check resolution in all the frame.

Thanks for switch to English language. Your old A77 has A mount (ex Minolta) and aps-c sensor, your new A7iv has E mount and full frame sensor. You can use your old lenses on A7 but you need for an adapter like LA-EA5 or oldest LA-EA4 and LA-EA3 to be able to mount the lenses and probably you’ll maintain all automatisms (check on compatibility chart of the adapter you’ll choose). I have to release some personal opinions. Your lens is for aps-c only, so your are going to buy a fullframe camera but you’ll use only half of his resolution and performance. In addition, as personal experience, I can say that newer native E mount lenses are way more better in speed and optical quality. You should consider to buy an adapter only in case you have a particular old lens (fullframe) that you want to use. In other cases I recommend to made a full switch from A mount to E mount.

Hi @Movinstills I have several godox accessories (flashes and commanders). I can confirm that the screw lock mechanism is absolutely bad, and the plastic shoe is inadequate. Actually never dropped any accessories, gust replaced a couple of shoe on my flesh and commender (easy to find on internet as spare parts). The fact that newer godox accessories have a metal plate and a new “click” lock solution is the sign that they know.. You can try to request for a refund to godox, but I don’t think they approve that. I can’t imagine why sony should do that for godox.. really strange request I think.

IMHO the point is that the camera has different behaviors with same settings (can you confirm?). All that customer can do is a reset of the camera just to exclude any settings mistakes, other of that is in change of the camera (firmware?).

You can’t compare reflex battery consumption with mirrorless. Reflex camera doesn’t have any consumption when they doesn’t shoot.. mirrors cameras yes: just the ability to capture liveview and display in a lcd requires a lot of energy

Can you explain what you mean with “very quick”? Have you resetted the camera just to be sure to not have any settings that can drain energy? Otherwise there are two options: or your batteryes are old and exhausted, or there is an hardware problem on camera or lens.

Just checked: on my cameras when I format on camera the file system became ExFat also if it start with FAT. In FAT it can work and store pics, but by formatting it became ExFat

*****.. 😳 It sounds strange to me… My A7iv and A7C use exfat to format the flash cards on camera. I’ll try to format on pc as fat and than reformat on camera to see what happens

From the A7rII to the A7iv, I have installed each update without any issues. I don’t know why some cameras had the problem

Have you tried to remove the battery replace the firmware file with a new one (by downloading again) and retry to power the camera with the SD inside and the battery fully charged? Have you tried to use a different SD card? Have you tried to format the SD card on a Windows 10/11 OS?
