Is the xperia xa2 getting anymore security patches?

I'm already disappointed knowing that I'm gonna have to buy another phone, and since the xa2 isn't getting android 10, are we at least getting security patches for this phone? Or is the support completely dead? This was my first sony phone, and most likely my last since there was only one big update, and no more. Sounds like motorola.

I agree with you about security patches. As for OS updates, upgrades, I think it was very much expected that it would only see Android 9. Compare with older middle segment phones from Sony.

The present August update, 50.2.A.0.400, includes the 1 August patch level, and arrived mid-August; that's 100+ days ago (~110). I think the old one .379 was around 104 days old when .400 arrived. But timely updates is a requirement.

Sony chose to let some of their phones be validated in the Android Enterprise Recommended program; with that follows (as a minimum requirement):

• Support current shipping release + one letter upgrade (that is: Android 8 to 9);
• Security patches from device manufacturers delivered within 90 days, guaranteed for three years.

So, in theory there should be security patches until (at least) early 2021.

I'm staying on Oreo, until they've fixed most things, such as the camera, in Pie.

A follow up post: As you may have seen, Sony has started delivering 50.2.A.3.22, since some 2-3 days, it seems. They are sticking to a 3 month cadence for XA2 now. (107 days between 13/8 and 28/11, they are stretching it.)

At the moment it's not clear which security patch level is included (but as far as I know, they have used the first one).

The most recent patch I got was the August one.
