Hi,
I've got an issue which I didn't already see on this forum, sorry if it's already discussed.
As you all know, since the lollipop update there are 3 ways to deal with sounds/vibrations and notifications. Silence, priority and the regular sound mode. What I would like is that I'm able to turn on/off the vibration per app, and I want my phone to vibrate on an incoming call. Take for example whatsapp. In whatsapp, I've turned on vibration for private messages, but not for group messages. But what really happens is that the phone takes control about this.
- Silent mode: No vibrations for whatsapp, no vibrations on incoming calls.
- Sound mode: 'Normal' vibration for private chats in whatsapp, 2 'short' vibrations for group chats in whatsapp (this I don't want), vibrations on incoming calls.
- Priority mode: If app is not on the priority list, see silent mode, else see sound mode.
So the point is, I get the vibrations all the time, the settings in whatsapp don't seem to matter. The phone choses to vibrate anyway, only in a different pattern, even if I set it off in whatsapp itself.
Does anyone know a solution for this? Or does anyone know the proper settings to use?
Thanks in advance.

Silent is silent, nothing to do. But in priority, you shouldn't be able to add 3rd party apps.
Now in sound mode,if the device is off vibration (doesn't matter sound volume), you should be able to change the whatsapp as you wish. I remember trying to do something similar with hangouts (but this here is a default app). I have disabled vibrations for it but keeping the device on vibration I think still triggered them.

Thanks for your answer, but that doens't suit my needs either, because I want my phone to vibrate on incoming calls. So I don't want to turn it off completely. You're probably right, something overrides the whatsapp settings so it vibrates even if it's turned off in whatsapp. But this was not the case in KitKat...
I am sorry, you could perhaps contact both sony and google about this:

And maybe @Samuel has other ideas.
As far as I'm informed this is the new Android standard. I think that this needs to be adressed by whatsapp so they can rebuild/change how the app works to fit the new Android version.
Cool Samuel,thanks for confirming.
