removing email message tone

HI,

Is there any way on the z3 to remove the notification tone when an email is received?

I have turned the option off in the Gmail app, but the tones persist with all of my other email accounts which run through the main email application that was pre installed on the phone.

Thank you in advance.

@xperiamans, Do you also have the Xperia Z3 Compact? It can be the reason why you cannot choose none as ringtone. If you go to Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Tap the app that you have chosen to open sound with > Clear defaults. If you are not sure which app you have chosen, you can reset app preferences via Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Menu button (three dots) > Reset app preferences.

Otherwise, which Android-version are you using?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Is it the pre installed Email application that you are using? If yes, you should be able to turn off the notification sound via Email > Menu button (the one with three dots) > Settings > Tap at your@account > Tap at "Notification" (the text) > Select ringtone > None.

there is no option for "none". I chose to perform action ringtone selector (or similar). Could this be the problem? If so how do I now use another way of choosing the ringtone

you're good! That was the problem. I had used Sound Picker and not Media Storage. Thank you.
