Hi !
You are probably aware about this common problem with many Sony mobile phones. I have this phone for 2 weeks and stil can't solve the problem. I browzed the Net and rad a lot of recomendations. I restarted the rotor and the phone. Whatever I did I still can't connect to my home wi fi. I have another Samsung Galaxy phone connected to this wi fi, a desktop PC, a laptop and 2 tablets. As for this new Sony phoe I always have authentication problem message. The signal is exellent.
I sent e-mail to Sony support page but they do not answer. Today I talked to the guy at Sony shop and they pretend as if they have never heard about it.
I wolud welcome any real assistance. Thanks.
having the same problem with my 3days old Z1, it fixes with pushing the WPS button on router-when you have the setting screen on phone, with the pop-up window about pushing the wps button. but when wi-fi works on my phone, it doesnt work anymore for other devices-laptops, pc.. etc. it kind of creates another(what it looks like) wi-fi that is actually the same thing, only is authentificated with the wps button, and in the meanwhile the other one is still having the authetification problem. so the phone feels a bit useles if you cant use it with wi-fi normally, if you are unlucky as me-having the APN wont save issue. so no internet at all.
so, i have no other solution than bringing phone back to shop. tried everything. the wps is no optin- if you still want to use other devices on wi-fi.. so it has unknown problem with connecting to password secured networks. no problem with free wi-fi at the grocery shop.
tried all the things i could imagine and found in forum-changing channels for wi-fi-below 11.. restarting and reseting router and phone. did reinstal the phone through SUS.. but nothing helps. so i guess that is unknown hardware issue.
good luck with yours.
I found a solution of this problem after playing with all setings for a month. I received quite routine advice from Sony support service but it didn't work. They proposed to install thier PC software and upgrade. I did it but it didn't help.
Then I played the channels of my D-Link routor and changed them up and down.
I install WiFi optimiser from Play Store as Sony recommended. It showed an exellent signal but the problem hadn't gone.
Then I found the website of my router and downlaoded the latest service pack. When I installed it the authentication problem has gone. Give it a try. let me know if you fixed your problem.
Use static IP for your phone.
