Optical Sound Output - Is this a bug?

I've connected my Bravia 49X83's audio output to an external audio system using an optical cable.

The Speaker setting is set to Audio System.

Under Headphone/Audio Out there is a choice of Fixed or Variable.

I want to control the audio level with the TV's remote, so I select Variable.

But the optical audio output is constant - it doesn't change from the TV remote.

Surely this is wrong?

Hey man! thanks for starting this thread - it definitely helped me to find this solution (issue was exactly the bug you described) :

in Audio-Menu:

1.) set Speaker -> TV Speakers (this will enable the "Headphone-Speaker Connection" setting)

2.) set Headphone-Speaker Connection -> Off

3.) go back to Speaker and set it to Audio System

hope this helps :slight_smile:

Any update on this?

I just got Sony XF90 and facing the same issue.

Actually I can control the volume level of the audio system when browsing the android options(click sounds), but when I start youtube or kodi the sound is fixed and cannot be controlled.
