I have been looking for a new laptop for a while, but almost all new laptops come only with a screen with display resolution 1366 x 768. What I would need is a laptop with about 15" screen having a screen resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels or something like that. My old laptop I am using has a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and this screen is much usable than new 1366 x 768 screens. I would need to buy a new laptop, but I need better screen resolution.
Well, the VPCEC3A4E I'm using has "only" 1600*900 with an ATI mobility Radeon (1 MB). Another VPCEC3*** I care about also has 1600*900 with another ATI mobility Radeon (512KB). Would that be good enough for you? I can run a virtual Windows 2000 session in an 1152*768 window on this desktop.
That screen resolution is probably 17.3" which too much for my purposes. I would need a portable computer with about 15" size because they are easier to carry in the bag and not that heavy. It would be nice if Sony would start to manufacture laptops with 1440x900 or 1280x800 resolutions.
the 1280x800 and 1440x900 are 16x10 screens, which are the older "widescreen". Most new laptops are 16x9, like TVs. I believe the current E and C series Vaios are both available in 15.5" with "full HD" 1920x1080 res.

Sony C Series at Sony web site allows custom display configuration (custom 15.5" Full HD display for only £30).
Sony Z Series at Sony web site also allows custom display configuration (standard 1600:900 13.1" display and custom 13.1" Full HD display for only £40).
Nevertheless I would you advice you to have a look at the Sony F Series with 16.4" Full HD display (it is better for HD entertainment and video/photography editing).
A simple solution is also a docking station or just HDMI cable - it allows to connect almost every laptop to a Full HD LCD monitor or Full HD TV set.
