Hi, I'm sure this seems like a dull problem with everyone moving to Vista at the moment, but I'm having trouble fixing a blip on one of the network cards.
I've just replaced the hard drive on my sister's hard drive and installed my own version of Windows XP Home (she never made a recovery disk!). I've downloaded the drivers for the VGN-FE11S from the Sony website and got everything in Device Manager running happily, except for the "Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection". When trying to get the driver to update it did use a file from "Drivers\Network 2", but this still left it with a fault. I followed Windows advice and uninstalled the hardware and then installed it again using "Add New Hardware", but this hasn't made a blind bit of difference, and this time it doesn't seem to want to even try and use the drive in Network 2!
Any advice anyone? All tips are welcome
P.S. After installing all the Drivers and Utilities that can be downloaded from the Sony Website, is there anything important I might still be missing on the VAIO?
have you tried by any chance to download the driver straight from Intel?
I think the FE series uses the 3945ABG card so you could try this out
Thanks for the tip, will try it out when I get home!
