Hi Guys,
Trying to install XP on VPCW11S1E after HDD failure. Installing from USB drive. XP Installer cannot see new HDD. No options in BIOS to disable Native SATA (usual solution). Cannot use Sony Recovery (F10 at boot) as HDD is brand new. Old drive is completely dead. Any solutions available or do I have to bin it?
Thanks & regards
Michael

Hi Michael and welcome.
Have you tried loading the SATA drivers for your 945GSE Intel chipset from an external USB Floppy Disc Drive by pressing F6 when you get to the first text-only Setup screen in XP?
I think you need the ICH7M/MDH SATA ACHI Controller Driver - BUT PLEASE CHECK!
Alternatively, you could slipstream the SATA drivers using nLite.

Nice. So is this the alternate solution if it won't detect?
